Mantel decor around tv. Every house i have lived in i have loved decorating yet have gotten frustrated when it came to how to decorate around my television. A design question i hear often is how to decorate a mantel with a tv above it. First of all you need to keep scale and height in mind when decorating a mantel with a tv above it for christmas.

Flat screen tvs particularly ones mounted above the fireplace mantel present a design challenge. A simple lantern vase or greenery will work just fine. I am no different.

Keeping the decor low and minimal with maybe one tall item on one end can help to make the mantel or surface in front of the tv not feel too overcrowded or the tv wall too busy. Mantel decor with a tv it totally can be done still look great. Garlands are a beautiful addition to a mantel and can be changed out for different holidays.

I love the idea of adding sconces to the side of the tv. However those more concerned with aesthetics might not be as pleased. The taller side decor can be symmetrical or asymmetrical but it doesn t need to be overdone.
